Apple Supply Chain and Product Overview | October 2022
November 14, 2022
Key Takeaways:
iPhone Production Forecast (Y2022)
- We revised down the total iPhone production forecast in Y2022 from 260~265M to 255~260M to reflect the sluggish demand for iPhone 14 Plus after the model being shipped.
iPhone 15 Series EMS Supplier Update
- We check that Foxconn may still be the sole supplier of iPhone 15 Pro Max, while Foxconn may not be the sole supplier of iPhone 15 Pro. Luxshare may come in and be the second supplier of iPhone 15 Pro.
iPhone Panel and the Related IC Supplier Update
- In this month, we check that LGD has passed Apple’s quality verification of 6.7” LTPO panel for iPhone 14 Pro Max model. However, LGD may still only supply 10~15% of 6.7” LTPO panels in Y2022. Though LGD may not be able to fully make up the production shortfall in 2H22, its shipment may ramp up in 1Q23.
- After being excluded from the Touch IC supplier list since iPhone 13 series, we see that Synaptics may discuss with Apple about resuming the supply of Touch IC for OLED iPhone models as early as the end of Y2024.
Apple Foldable Product Update
- We believe that Apple’s foldable product plan may still be at a very early stage since Apple may target to launch its OLED IT product first. Therefore, we expect Apple may not release its first foldable product earlier than Y2026, and the actual launch schedule may depend on suppliers’ progress.
